ANISE TOAST BISCOTTI – ANGIE'S OPEN RECIPE BOX



Anise Toast Biscotti – Angie's Open Recipe Box image

If you like the flavor of anise, treat yourself to this easy biscotti! There are only four ingredients! So easy to make your own, and so delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 eggs
? cup sugar
1 teaspoon anise seeds
1 cups flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°.
  • Spread butter all over a small baking sheet pan.  (Use real butter rather than a butter spray.)
  • Spread butter on the bottom and half-way up the sides of a 9x5-inch loaf pan.   (Use real butter rather than a butter spray.)
  • With a mixer on medium speed, beat together the eggs and the sugar.
  • Mix in anise seeds and the flour.  The batter will be stiff.
  • Spread the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake at 375° for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are a light brown.
  • With a knife loosen edges of the loaf and immediately invert the loaf onto a wire rack.
  • Invert loaf again onto a cutting board.
  • Cut loaf into 16 slices.
  • Place the slices flat side down on the buttered baking sheet pan.
  • Bake for 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • With tongs, turn slices over and bake the other side for 4 minutes more or until golden brown.
  • Immediately remove the anise toasts from the baking sheet pan to wire rack to cool.
  • Store the anise toasts in a covered tin or container at room temperature.

Orange-Anise Croquembouche with White Chocolate Recipe ... image

The classic croquembouche—a decadent tower of cream-filled choux pastry puffsencased in ribbons of hard caramel—is showing up on menus once again. In this fresh, bright update from Victoria Dearmond, pastry chef at Georgia James in Houston, the puffs are filled with orange- and anise-infused cream. Rather than spun sugar, a white chocolate drizzle holds the tower together.  When piping, use a wet finger to gently shape the cream puffs to prevent peaks. Once baked and filled, build the tower in layers, setting the cream puffs on freshly poured chocolate to secure the shape. Gold luster dust provides shimmer and shine for a seriously dramatic dessert every holiday table needs.

3/4 cup unsalted butter (6 ounces)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (about 6 1/2 ounces)
7 large eggs
8 ounces white baking chocolate, melted
Edible gold luster dust, for garnish (optional)
Whole star anise, for garnish
Candied orange peel, for garnish

Steps:

  • Start the orange-anise cream
  • Meanwhile, make the pâte à choux
  • Finish the orange-anise cream
